We had a great event today on the Sangamon. Twelve paddlers in all. 8 left from Scott's Landing (my place) for the IL47/Division Street bridge. A crew of Mike's family and friends joined us a bit downstream. We had our first few capsized boats by the first half hour, but thankfully, none after that. Except for that little incident with Woody trying the Tree Pose from his yak. Not recommended.
We had wonderful weather, and picked a bit more trash. The river was in good shape with several downed trees presenting various challenges to keep the trip interesting. Some of us went over, around, and yes, under different log jams.
Also, some updates to the USRC transport trailer improved it's functionality and ease of loading.
And finally, we got in a test of the rubber ducks for the upcoming Sangamon River Duck Race this August. Stay tuned for more information!
