Mussel Monitoring – Sangamon River

The Upper Sangamon River Conservancy and River Watch will continue our long-term collaboration to study freshwater mussels in the Sangamon River. Join us to help collect, tag, and measure mussels. Join us for one or up to all four citizen science opportunities!

Volunteers should wear clothes and old shoes, such as sneakers, that are suitable for getting muddy and soaked. Recommended personal items include a water bottle, bug repellent, sunscreen, and a hat. A lunch will be provided for this event.

No experience is necessary. There are a limited number of spots for this event. This event is free, but registration is required. To register email Bruce Colravy at bmcolravy@msn.com.

We will meet at the Museum of the Grand Prairie, 600 N. Lombard St, Mahomet, and shuttle to Heron View Forest Preserve, 399 County Road 2650. No parking available at Heron View.
