Level 2. This should be an easy float trip, but water levels are low and there may be some blockages requiring a portage. Trip length is approximately 5 miles. Total trip time should be around 3 hours with no guarantees on time on the river.
The float trip will depart from the Hazen Bridge where CR2600 crosses the Sangamon River. Parking is limited at the Hazen Bridge so participants can opt to meetup at the Lake of the Woods just past the Izaak Walton cabin endpoint and shuttle upriver to the Hazen Bridge.
Note in comments or via email that you would prefer to park at Lake of the Woods. Parking shuttle departure will be 9am. Trip start time from the Hazen Bridge will be approximately 9:30.
Transportation and watercraft can both be provided.
Note in the comments if you are bringing your own watercraft.
All participants, even those bringing their own watercraft, are REQUIRED to register (free) for this trip through this link, and must indicate whether or not you will be needing a USRC watercraft and which type you prefer – kayak or canoe. We have fewer kayaks than canoes. You can send an email to Scott at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
