Thanks to dedicated volunteers working for nearly three years, we are nearing the end of removing bush honeysuckle in Mahomet Greenway Park.

We will resume the removal of remaining stumps and burn brush piles on three workdays in October.  Workdays will be on Sundays, October 1, 15, and 29, starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending no later than 2:00 p.m.  We’ll meet at the Mahomet Greenway parking lot at 1104 S. Division Street (just north of the Sangamon River bridge on the east side of IL-47) and walk to the work site.

Wear sturdy shoes, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, and gloves—USRC will provide the tools.

If you would like to participate in this event or if you have additional questions, contact Joe Niernberger at naturalareas@sangamonriver.com.
