Join us for a float trip on the Sangamon River!
The USRC can provide canoes and kayaks on as needed basis and help with shuttling watercraft for this event.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER EVEN IF BRINGING THEIR OWN WATERCRAFT. REGISTRATION BELOW.
Confirmation and further details will be emailed to float trip registrants.
This will be a 5 mile trip, so please allow 4-5 hours in total! You may bring something to eat along the way since we’ll be out over the lunch hour. Bring water and/or beverages of your choice and don’t forget the sunblock!
Trip participants join with other participants at their own risk and the USRC accepts no liability for participants. All participants will be expected to sign a liability waiver before departure.
Participants who wish to park at the Sangamon Greenway should plan on meeting in the parking lot at 9:30 am for shuttling up to Riverwood, our departure location. Participants wishing to park at Riverwood and shuttle back at the end are also welcome to do so. Departure from Riverwood will be 10am.
Please be aware that the Sangamon River is moving water with dangerous random hazards present in the form of floating debris and places where passages may be blocked requiring portage.
Participants must be skilled with handling, navigating, steering and entering and exiting a canoe or kayak in any of these potential conditions.
The USRC recommends wearing floatation and has appropriate floatation in various sizes available for participants.
Sign ups are closed for this event.
