Join the USRC for a float trip this Sunday, July 6 at 8:30 am.

We’re assuming the river will be up so we’ll go from CR3200 just south of Greenwood Lake downstream to the Sangamon River Forest Preserve.

There is no parking and very little room at the put-in spot, so we’ll be assembling at the Sangamon River Forest Preserve (the take-out) at 8:30 am and then ride up together to the put-in spot. We will need a volunteer who will not be canoeing to drive us and the canoe trailer up to the put-in spot and then leave it at the Sangamon River Forest Preserve.

This is a longer trip, just over 7 miles, with potentially unknown blockages. That’s what we’ll be exploring this time out. But it’s a beautiful trip! Allow 4 hours on the water, so the trip should take til about 1pm altogether, if all goes well.

As usual, the USRC should have plenty of canoes available to USRC members. Not a member? No problem, you can join on site for $20. There may be a limited number of kayaks available as well.

If you are interested it is imperative that you RSVP with Scott by Saturday morning July 6th. All members should let me know you’re coming even if you are bringing your own craft since we’ll be trying to arrange single-vehicle transport to the put-in spot.

We hope to see you on the river!
