The USRC is once again conducting a mussel survey of the Sangamon River. River Bend Forest Preserve (Mahomet) is the location this year. The event will begin at 9am on Saturday, August 17th. Researcher Steve Buck has agreed to help us again this year.

Following the survey, we will have a pot luck lunch at the River Bend pavilion with the USRC providing meat for the grill, drinks, plates, cups, utensils, etc. Also, singer/songwriter John Coppess has agreed to provide musical entertainment for the event.

Anyone interested in participating or having any questions about the event should contact Bruce Colravy as soon as they are reasonably sure they can attend. My email is bmcolravy@msn.com and my cell is (217) 369-5376. There are a few “dry” chores for those who wish to participate, but would rather not search for mussels.
